In autosomal recessive inheritance, an affected individual must inherit:

One copy of the affected gene from either parent

Two copies of the affected gene, one from each parent

The dominant allele from one parent

The dominant allele from both parents

Autosomal recessive disorders require the presence of two recessive alleles.
